Virginia Lafar

Board Member

Virginia graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied both French and Communications. She also obtained her Master’s Degree in French Teaching from Winthrop University. Virginia has taught French to high school students, as well as English and French to business adults at Berlitz International Language Company. Moreover, she was the Director of the Saturday French School in Charlotte, N.C., for seven years. Active in her community, Virginia serves several organizations. She works with “BraveWorks,” helping refugee women who have relocated to Charlotte, which trains women in crafting handmade jewelry and products. They have a local and global presence, even having an office in Kampala, Uganda. Additionally, she chairs the Advocacy Team of Charlotte’s Chapter of Women of Vision, an affiliate of World Vision. Virginia is a life-long member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC. Virginia has traveled to Bududa, Uganda, several times, volunteering alongside the staff of the Bududa Learning Center.
